Discussing a work of art is as important as purifying
the air you breathe in Art nourishes us emotionally as
well as intellectually. It shapes our senses and wisdom.
Some use words, some sign and some draws.
To understand, what is being said, one needs to know the
vocabulary otherwise massage decoded could be wrong.
How to learn this vocabulary ?
well one can pick up an art dictionary or a book related
to arts. "explore" is the key…
This way one can learn the basic steps, how to find out
what is being said, one needs to decode an art work and
then analyze and match results with the maker’s
data(notes comments or write ups). Use intuitive deductions.
If the maker’s voice is missing then it becomes
more complex to find out what was really happening?. Be
rational as it is the key to make a precis statement.
How ?
- Try to observe the work rationally for accuracy.
- What first impact the art work had?
- What part/area of art work is attracting you more
and why? Try to reason and write down thoughts.
Is it something u can or can’t understand quickly,
can or cant make a connection, got something to do
or not with you personally, emotionally, socially,
you like or dislike object, color, or it is well made
or not up to your stander.
- Do you like-agree/dislike-disagree the work? Why?
- If you dislike the work OK try to look through thesis
angles.

2. Is it balance?
3. What about color Platte
4. Is the message readable.
5. what is bothering u and why?
Note: The time you studying an art work try not to
be emotional, about it. Don’t put your likes/dislikes
in the data you collecting.
Gather some data about the maker & try to analyses
his/her personality. Is art work reflecting any of
it or not.
- Try to decode the art work made.
- Are their any symbols used in art work? what do
they stand for? Consult books, myths and stories.
Pile up your information and read it care fully,
analyzing the facts in order to make a hypothesis.
Check these hypotheses through different possible angles.
Is the final data is impartial.
Go for the statement but always keep it in mind that
this is your voice.
